The Beacon of Knowledge;
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) aspires to be a destination for scientific and technological education.
By inspiring discoveries to address global challenges, KAUST strives to serve as the beacon of knowledge that bridges people and cultures for the betterment of humanity.
"The Beacon" is KAUST's official monthly campus magazine, dedicated to showcasing the university's latest research, news, and events. It serves as a platform for sharing discoveries and promoting collaboration within the KAUST community. With engaging content, "The Beacon" informs, engages, and celebrates the achievements of faculty, students, and staff members.
The aim of the collaboration between Milk Network and KAUST is to create a visually appealing design system for "The Beacon" magazine. Currently, the design lacks consistency and clarity. The colors used vary inconsistently, and there is no clear grid system or layout.
“The Beacon” magazine is dedicated to showcase KAUST’s latest research, news, and events. The magazine is a combination of engaging content, interesting facts and numbers, illustrations, charts, and pictures.
Milk Network is collaborating with KAUST to work on a clear and unified visually appealing design system that clearly outlines that ensures the magazine design is standardized for the upcoming months.
To begin with, a grid system was designed to allow the content to be arranged flexibly across the magazine and provide structure to the overall design language. We also specified the color coding that should be used along with a clear lay outing system.
